Spectre Web Player is designed to offer high-quality, browser-based audio playback in a seamless and efficient manner. To ensure optimal performance, users must meet the following technical requirements before activating the license.

1. Supported Operating Systems

Spectre Web Player is compatible with the most widely used desktop platforms:

  • Microsoft Windows

  • Apple macOS

  • Linux distributions known to support Chrome (Ubuntu / Debian / Linux Mint...)

Regardless of whether you are using a PC or a Mac, Spectre Web Player will function effectively as long as you are using a supported version of the Chrome browser.

2. Browser Compatibility

Spectre Web Player is currently supported by the Google Chrome browser only.

To ensure full functionality, users must have Chrome installed and updated to the latest version.

Using outdated versions of Chrome may lead to performance issues or limited functionality, and it is highly recommended that users verify from time to time to keep their browser up to date.

3. Audio System Connection

For professional and high-fidelity audio output, the Spectre Web Player requires a wired (cable) connection to the sound system. Wireless audio transmission (such as Bluetooth) is not recommended, as it may introduce latency, compression artifacts, or connectivity instability—issues that are unacceptable in critical listening environments.

4. Network requirements for all devices

The application must have unconstrained Internet access — or at least a network access that matches the following requirements:

  • The device must be connected to either WiFi or cellular at all times.

  • The device MAC address must be whitelisted if MAC filtering is present on your network.

  • The device MAC address must be whitelisted if a captive portal is present on your network.

  • The device must have a working IPv4 or IPv6 address, and a gateway with routes to the global Internet.

  • The device must have a working DNS resolver, either from DHCP or manually configured.

  • The application's network traffic must be authorized if a firewall is present on your network. This includes HTTPS traffic to spectre-music.com subdomains, and TCP traffic over port 31517 to papertrailapp.com subdomains.
